What is a church? Most of us know it’s not just a building with a steeple. To reach many people for Christ, many churches must be planted. So what should we plant?
Let’s pray today for our missionaries, Randy and Kimberly Windham, who plant new churches in and around Lusaka, (say loo-SOCK-ah) Zambia, in southern Africa. Church planting here must be simple: No computers. A Bible is a luxury. So, how do lead someone to salvation? That’s the challenge the Windhams face daily.
The Windhams visit a village and look for people God’s already dealing with, then lead people to faith in Christ. Discipleship training follows. False prophets abound in Zambia, and a faith based on the Bible’s teaching is essential.
New groups that become churches will soon send members out as missionaries to evangelize and plant more churches.
Outside, a new church here may have a building or meet under a shade tree. But to be a biblical church, each must be based on five core ingredients: biblical teaching, fellowship, worship, service, and evangelism.
Because our church supports the Windhams through our Cooperative Program giving we have a part in planting every new church. We rejoice with them as each is born!
